Weather with an uncertainty figure.

The usual weather services show one number from one model and keep quiet about how sure they are of it. Klarwetter runs five models against each other and also shows how far they agree.

The difference

When the models sit close together, you can make plans. When they diverge, it says so — instead of a single number that feigns certainty. The spread is not small print here but a value of its own, shown on screen.

What does the computing

Five models, independent of one another: ECMWF, ICON, the AI model AIFS, NOAA’s GFS and GEM from Environment Canada. They run on our own servers, not at a data broker. In auto-learning mode the application remembers which model was right most often at a given location and weights it more heavily.

What is in it

  • Hourly for 48 hours, a daily overview for 16 days
  • High-resolution rain radar at 1 km resolution
  • Official severe-weather warnings
  • Air quality, pollen, sun and moon times

What is not in it

No tracking, no account, no selling of location data — on the website as in the app. What gets stored is the name of a district, not the position of the device.

Klarwetter AI

The app for Android: the same models on the move, plus widgets, severe-weather notifications and explanations of the radar image. A version for iOS is planned; we will name a date once there is one.

Where the data comes from

The same processing that Karuki Meteo exposes as an interface. Klarwetter is its first consumer — whatever fails there is noticed here first.
